The first hike for me was actually the third hike for the group. I missed the first two hikes because of being on vacation. It was difficult to train for hiking in Colorado while vacationing in Florida, but I tried my best!
Group hikes are held every Saturday, rain or shine. Generally they are only for Hike For Discovery participants, but every so often we have the opportunity to bring along family members, friends and dogs as well. They're called "Family, Friends and Fido Hikes." So Mark and Orianna got to join me for my first hike!
Having been back from Florida for less than a day, we took the short trail and only hiked 3.5 miles while everyone else completed 7 miles. (Seven miles?! I thought these hikes would be easy!) Still, when we got home we were tired, and took a three hour nap. Hmm, hike three miles then sleep three hours... Does that mean I'll need to sleep 7 hours after a 7 mile hike?
A shot of the group, well, hiking.
Look at me! I'm hiking!
Orianna needed water too of course. Thank goodness Camelbacks make it easy to share, but not share slobber!
